Passionate about music, Modestine Ekete sings in Yemba, her mother tongue.
She also sings in French, Spanish and other languages in Cameroon. She writes and interprets her works with the sanza, the ndong (pygmy flute), the drum, the balaflon, the kouadeng or the guitar. His Afrobeat style is derived from the fusion of his musical influences offered by the cultural diversity of Africa. Modestine Ekete grew up in Cameroon, her native country, where the musical richness is immense. It is her performance at the Yaounde Festival "Jazz under the Mango", alongside Pascal Mbouemeyi, which will be the trigger and will push her to invest more seriously in music and writing her own songs. Follow a lot of scenes, especially in France (festival Fiesta des Sud, festival des Femmes du Soleil,…) and in 2001, André Benedetto opens the doors of théâtre des Carmes in Avignon to create his own musical show named "tué lâh".
After a 7-year-old break, Modestine took up the path of creation and recorded, between 2015 and 2017, 6 titles from her very first EP at Studio de Volmérange and Studio BAMHAUS with professionals such as Ben Barnich, Fred Hormain and Fabrice Richard.
Modestine's new album is titled "ZING NDADA" which you can discover in preview on 06 October 2017 during the Release-party that the artist will propose to the KULTURFABRIK in Esch-sur-Alzette.
